Will Joseph Cook has been on the road of late, taking the “sunshine pop” of his debut album to venues around the UK.

Last week he stopped by at Manchester’s Sound Control to play through material from Sweet Dreamer in front of a crowd keen to sing along to every track.

Backed by his band, Will Joseph took to the stage to open with the title track, closing with his most famous song, Beach (I Want To Make You Mine).

One fun moment involved the band – unable to hide at the side of the stage before their encore – lying on the ground and bouncing back up, as if by magic, to continue their performance.

Given the intimate basement venue, it was a busy show, and his easygoing sounds are likely to outgrow such locations from here.

Will Joseph Cook is now scheduled, album in tow, to perform at a sizeable number of UK festivals in the summer.

The highlight is a busy August bank holiday weekend on which he’ll play at Reading, Leeds and Victorious Festival.

He’s also at The Great Escape next week in Brighton.
