Koala Disco are a Belgian band who’ve been described as “post-punk with a psychedelic twist” and cite Talking Heads, Frank Zappa and DEVO as their influences.
The five-piece routinely chop around genres and have done so again by following up the eccentric dance-punk of Satan Molded My Dick Into Yr Pussy with the C86-inspired indie pop of new single Romantics.
It’s a summery, nostalgic track featuring chiming guitars and lush vocals from Silke Ravesloot, an easy-listening affair that contrasts to the oddball spirit of much of their work.
Romantics is the final single reveal for their upcoming second album, the follow-up to 2023’s Tickling the Dragon’s Tail.
The band – Ravesloot, Niels Tuijaerts, Hendrik Vanden Berk, Glenn Maes and Bart Hens – last year won an award at the prestigious Humo’s Rock Rally, a Battle of the Bands type contest in Belgium.
They’re scheduled to play live at Spring Fling Festival in Hasselt, Belgium on 29th May, followed by a headline show in hometown Antwerp on 11th June.
