Connar Ridd from Essex is better-known as FREAK, a leading face of the nu-punk scene that’s taking hold at the moment. There’s a bit of Slaves to his sound, which is perhaps unsurprising, as he’s signed to the same management.

Standout track: The title track from the I Like To Smile When I’m Sad EP captures everything he’s about.

Upcoming live dates: He’ll be at Kendal Calling and Reading and Leeds Festival later this summer, and more immediately at Dot To Dot Festival.
